Urban Outfitters to Open Second UWS Location
Sounds like the “hip factor” will be increasing on the upper Upper West Side… Newmark Knight Frank, a real estate advising firm, confirmed via press release that Urban Outfitters, the worldwide clothing and furniture store that prides itself on funky gear for young urbanites, will open a store at 2625 Broadway (between 99th and 100th). The retail store, the first major, national apparel retailer to enter this portion of Broadway, will occupy 6,090 square feet on the ground floor and 8,708 square feet on the lower level. The store signed a 10-year lease for the space after originally signing (and subsequently being released from) a lease for the former Metro Theater’s space across the street. A spokesperson for the deal states, “2625 Broadway is an ideal fit for Urban Outfitters as, unlike the former Metro Theater, it is not a landmarked property, offering Urban Outfitters the ability to create an original store design.” The new store is due to open this summer. Thanks to My Upper West tipster Daren E. for the info.
