UWS Anti-Hydrofracking Rally Tomorrow (Saturday)

Source: NY1
In November, State Assembly member Linda B. Rosenthal invited members of the Upper West Side and neighboring communities to voice their opinions on hydrofracking in New York State.
Tomorrow (Saturday, 2/25), Upper West Siders who oppose the controversial technique will have another opportunity to make their voice heard, with an afternoon rally to ban fracking in NYS taking place at The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine (1047 Amsterdam, at 112th).
Details are available at StJohnDiving.org — the event runs from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. Speakers include:
-
Tony Avella, State Senator
-
David Braun, United For Action
-
Wenonah Hauter, Food & Water Watch
-
Claire Sandberg, Frack Action
-
Terry Tempest Williams, Environmentalist
NYT’s Green blog has some information about the hydrofracking issues in New York. In that post, there’s a link to a longer Sunday Times article that provides some additional information.
If you prefer to get your news by video, NY1 had a brief but informative report on the issue last summer.
