Most Yankees fans will tell you that Derek Jeter’s “flip” was the best in team history, but (former?) Upper West Sider Alex Rodriguez just made a pretty nice flip of his own.
He recently sold his 35th floor condo at The Rushmore (80 Riverside Boulevard, at 64th) for a “significant profit.” A-Rod purchased the apartment for $5.5 million less than a year ago.
WSJ has the details on the sale. After closing in March of last year, Rodriguez put the 5 BR, full-floor unit back on the market in October with an $8 million asking price.
The apartment recently went into the contract with WSJ reporting that “several brokers familiar with the sale said the contract price was high enough for the Yankee star to lock in a significant profit.”
No word yet on whether A-Rod is staying in the neighborhood or heading elsewhere.
The apartment itself is a sprawling 14-room abode, featuring 5 BR and 5.5 BA spread out over 3,585 square feet. Here’s the broker’s description, followed by a few pictures and a floor plan:
You will be swept off your feet by this spectacular full floor residence at The Rushmore! Enter this loft-like residence from your key-locked private elevator vestibule. You are greeted with jaw dropping 180 degree views of the Hudson River, George Washington Bridge, and the Statue of Liberty. Sunsets every day are the backdrop for this trophy residence. Custom touches and modern finishes were accented throughout by a world renowned design team. The expansive and loft-like living, dining, and entertaining area span approximately 60 linear feet over the Hudson River. The generous layout allows for a private master bedroom wing complete with dressing room, two baths, and beautiful city views. In addition, there are two guest bedrooms each with an en suite bath and a library with a full bath that could be an additional bedroom. The lavish interiors throughout the home include Miele, Viking, Sub Zero, and Waterworks fixtures. The Rushmore is a full service five star white glove condominium with an array of unrivaled amenities. The resort-like lifestyle includes a spectacular La Palestra wellness center with indoor swimming pool, an exclusive collaboration with Kidville NY, a screening room, billiards room, and parking garage accessed directly through the building.
