UWS Filene’s Basement Solidifies Plans to Expand

filenes-basement-79 The Filene’s Basement branch at Broadway and 79th has plans to expand, according to the New York Post. The clothing retail store, owned by Syms Corp., signed a lease to the vacant space on the north end of the block of Broadway between 79th and 80th, previously a Circuit City. The store’s expansion adds 22,700 square feet to its existing space, nearly doubling its size. Only one other store, a small Zales jewelry shop, will stand between the two Filene’s locations. The rep for Syms said the two Filene’s stores might be connected on the second floor, and that the new address will include a Syms Tailored & Tux men’s department, the first in New York.
