UWS Freddie & Pepper’s Pizzeria Closed By Health Department

UPDATE 5/1: Freddie & Pepper’s has reopened
After a rash of health department-related closings in the neighborhood last month (here, here, here, & here), it looked like April might pass without any such incidents.
Not so…
UWS pizza joint Freddie & Pepper’s (303 Amsterdam, between 74th & 75th) is the latest victim of the health department’s restaurant grading system.
Thanks to MUW reader Jamie F. for sending in this photo — looks like they were closed on Thursday.
I have a friend who calls Freddie & Peppers the “dirty pizza place” because of its dilapidated/shabby interior — apparently she may have been on to something.
That said, I’ve eaten there plenty of times and have never had a problem.
I’ll undoubtedly be there again once they reopen — they’ve got the best buffalo chicken pizza in the neighborhood.
