UWS Halloween Pics: A Devilish Paul Ryan, Decked Out Brownstones On W. 69th & Costumed Canines

New York City is still dealing with the aftermath of Sandy, but Upper West Siders searching for normalcy were out in full-force last night to celebrate Halloween.
The photo above was snapped by MUW reader Amelia and was part of the decorations at the mini block party on West 87th.
The West 69th Street Block Association had to cancel their annual Halloween celebration at the last minute due to more pressing NYPD needs elsewhere, but that didn’t stop people from celebrating and decking out brownstones along the street.
MUW reader Lucien captured the photos below of some of the more elaborate displays on West 69th, including a fire-breathing dragon with its own smoke system:

Posted last week about FLORAL’s annual Doggie Halloween Party & Costume Contest. It went off without a hitch on Saturday, but Sandy news ended up taking precedence over posting photos. Here are a few, better late than never.
The top row is from Angie L. The second row is from Sunny & Lucy.
That bottom right picture is Sunny’s dog Becky dressed as a lobster. Per Sunny: “She still isn’t talking to me over this…”
If you’re the type of person who can’t get enough photos of dogs in costumes, here are some from last year’s event… I think that MetroCard dog may be the “Mounds/No-Nuts” dog from 2011.
