UWS Man Who Murdered His Father In Their West 87th Street Apartment Gets 15 Years To Life In Prison

Julian Kurita, the man found guilty of murdering — and nearly decapitating — his 70-year-old father in their Upper West Side apartment back in July 2010, was finally sentenced yesterday.

The sentencing is the final chapter of the sad and horrific case.

DNAinfo and The Daily News have the details. Mr. Karita was sentenced to 15 years to life.

His mother tearfully pleaded that the judge take her son’s mental illness into account when determining his punishment. Mr. Kurita had suffered from schizophrenia for more than a decade.
