UWS Openings: Second Time Around, Birdbath Bakery, Park West

Posted last month that upscale consignment shop Second Time Around was working on a second UWS location at 238 W. 72nd (between Broadway & West End).
Word at that time was the store wouldn’t be opening until “sometime in November,” but it looks like that was a conservative estimate — the store opened for business this past weekend.
MUW readers @PeteLabrozzi and Priscilla both sent in photos on Sunday of the newly opened space (those are Pete’s phots above and below).
This new location joins the STA that opened at 2624 Broadway (between 99th & 100th) last October.
I don’t know much about consignment shops except that some people swear by them. There’s only one review for the other UWS location, but it seems informative enough, so here it is, via Courtney S.:
I love this store! I originally went to locations in Boston (since I use to live there). I love this consignment shop, because they are well priced and they have a variety of high-end and lower-end designer fashions. The other great thing about this store, is they have a “sale” systems, where every week more and more items go on sale (like the original Boston Filene’s basement). Thus, prices are based on how long and item has been at the store. Thus, anytime you shop there is lots of items 20%, 30% or 50% off. I went to this location recently for the Summer Sale, Most things in the store were 70%. I got an amazing vintage cocktail dress for $20, a pair of brand new prada flats for $70, and a brand new brown maxi dress for $20 (retails for 200.00). The staff is great at this location too and it’s one of the biggest STAs in NYC. I recommend checking it out for yourself.
Elsewhere…
Mentioned all the way back in May that Birdbath Bakery (part of the City Bakery family) was opening an UWS branch at 518 Columbus (at 85th).
Looks like that opening is imminent, as MUW reader Michael P. forwarded me an e-mail exchange he had with Birdbath saying they’d be opening “this week.”
There are five other Birdbath locations downtown and all of them get rave reviews on Yelp (same goes for parent company The City Bakery).
Birdbath Neighborhood Green Bakery is the little sister of City Bakery, and one of the most eco-friendly food businesses on earth. Birdbath serves food that’s made from organic materials, is regionally grown, and seasonal. The bakeries are built from recycled, found, vintage, or sustainable materials. Birdbath is wind-powered, and all of the food is delivered from our main kitchen in bicycle-powered rickshaws. We also give discounts to any customer who arrives by bike, or even skateboard. Birdbath offers breakfast and lunch to go, with desserts and specialty drinks, seven days a week.
Will try and get some additional details when they finally open.
Finally, no real details on this yet, but MUW reader Glynis reports that the owners of neighborhood standby Italian Pomodoro are opening an American bistro called Park West at nearby 103 W. 70th (at Columbus).
UPDATE 4/15/13: Park West has opened
This space used to house Moroccan/Middle-Eastern restaurant Epices du Traiteur, which closed over the summer (absurdly belated h/t to Eric K.)
Park West is slated to open in “three months,” but all tentative opening dates should be taken with a huge grain of salt.
