UWS Openings: Refine, Geox

Looks like boutique fitness studio Refine — home of the the Refine Method — is opening an outpost in the neighborhood.
The Refine Method is a combination of fitness and resistance training. In 2011, New York Magazine’s dubbed it NYC’s “Best New Workout.”
Well+Good NYC has some limited details on the opening, which is slated for later this summer.
While a location has been selected, the address has not been made public. The chosen space supposedly has “a rich fitness history” — I’m drawing a blank on this at the moment, but fee free to hazard a guess.
This will be Refine’s third location — Well+Good did a write-up on the UES branch last year.
According to its website, Refine was “founded by Harvard-educated former New York City Ballet dancer, Brynn Jinnett, whose clients have included Kelly Ripa, Ivanka Trump and Barbara Walters, as well as professional dancers and athletes.”
You can find pricing information here. It’s definitely not cheap, but it appears to be pretty popular fitness option for those willing and able to pay for it.
Elsewhere…
Quick reminder that it’s Day 2 of the latest MTA FASTRACK maintenance project. There are major service changes and station closures on the 1/2/3 subway lines from 10:00 pm – 5:00 am every day this week.
Finally, it’s been almost a year since the Liberty Travel at Broadway & 82nd closed its doors and relocated. Now MUW readers Gaby, Andrew, and Tyler report that Geox — an Italian shoe company that apparently uses some sort of fancy science/technology in its products — will be opening a store there.
They sent in the photo below showing various work permits — no word yet on an opening date. They appear to have several other NYC locations, although I’ve never heard of them.
That said, I buy my shoes at the outlet malls in New Jersey, so I’m probably not the target market.
Sorry for the lack of posts over the past couple of days — things might remain a little slow for the rest of the week. I’m working on a non-MyUpperWest project and have been way short on time.
