Looks like the Upper West Side is getting another frozen yogurt spot.
A few weeks ago Berrylicious opened a location at 641 Amsterdam (at 91st). Now a self-serve froyo place called iCrave is opening at 2541 Broadway (at 95th).
Thanks to MUW readers Amelia and Jim for sending in photos (that’s Jim’s above).
There doesn’t seem to be much information available on iCrave, as a quick search didn’t turn up their website or a Facebook page (although Brownstoner reports another location is opening in Brooklyn Heights).
Seems like iCrave is 16 Handles knockoff, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But speaking of 16 Handles…
It was just three months ago they opened their own location three blocks north at Broadway & 98th (2600 Broadway).
While the UWS clearly has its share of froyo lovers, it will be interesting to see how this place does given that it’s so close to the uber-popular 16 Handles.
Elsewhere — continuing the sweets/dessert theme…
François Payard’s Bakery (a.k.a. FPB) opened a Columbus Circle location last Friday.
Technically it’s on Broadway between 57th & 58th (1775 Broadway), but they’re referring to it as Columbus Circle and it’s close enough that I won’t put up a fight (I think the building is also known as 3 Columbus Circle).
This is the third NYC location for FPB. NYT reports the bakery/cafe features “some new items, including soft-serve ice cream and lunch boxes to go.” (h/t to my mom for the link).
