UWS Openings and Closings
Luke’s Lobster, a lobster roll shop with a location on the UES and an original location on East 7th Street, has opened their Upper West Side location in lightning-fast time. The restaurant, which was just reported as coming soon to Amsterdam and 80th on December 7th, opened yesterday, offering the same menu as the other locations with additions like crab bisque and fish stew.
In closing news, the Off-Track Betting location at 72nd between Broadway and Columbus, like all other OTBs in the city, closed last week due to the lack of city funding. DNAinfo reports on the unique location’s closing, noting the happy reaction from the upstairs neighbor, Bikram Yoga NYC (“We’ve been strange bedfellows,” admits a receptionist at the yoga studio), and the sentiments from the gambling spot’s other merchant neighbors, surprised that the OTB didn’t cause too many problems in the area when it opened years ago. Read more about the diversely populated building and the OTB closing at DNAinfo.
Did you spot an opening or closing in the neighborhood? Let us know… send as much information as possible to “alerts [at] myupperwest.com,” and we might post it!
