Mentioned in February that the former All Bright Trading Company space at 2659 Broadway (corner of 101st) was being gutted.
It has now reopened at Variazioni, a women’s clothing boutique.
Thanks to readers Jim and @JamieLee74 for the top (that’s Jim’s photo) — the store opened on Friday.
This is Variazioni’s 12th location, and second on the UWS. They also have a store at 2389 Broadway (between 87th & 88th).
Mentioned a rumor last night that Michaels, the arts and crafts store located in the Columbus Square development, might be facing the same kind of rent increase that is forcing the nearby Associated Supermarket to close.
MUW reader Jaime took it upon herself to investigate and sent in this note:
I heard the same rumor so I called to ask and the cashier who answered the phone said their location wasn’t going anywhere and that they are currently the #1 earner in the country.
Sounds solid — I guess time will tell.
Sorry for the short post tonight, but I have to run. I’m seeing Springsteen in concert (my first time) in Jersey and am late for my rendezvous with friends at Penn Station.
