Women’s clothing boutique Variazioni has been busy on the Upper West Side of late.

In April, they opened opened their second neighborhood store at 2659 Broadway (corner of 101st).

On  Monday, they opened their third at 181 Columbus (corner of 68th).

MUW reader Kevin sent in the photo above over the weekend and readers Gaby, Andrew, and Tyler report the owner told them they’d be open for business starting yesterday.

This space used to house Great Farm Deli, which closed last October (and was seized by the city marshal).

Variazioni already has a location at 151 W. 72nd (between Amsterdam & Columbus), which is awfully close to the new store. No word at the moment as to whether or not the 72nd Street outpost may end up closing.

This opening has been in the works for a while — a construction worker at the site told me back in November that a “clothing store” was moving in.

Posted last week that the Hot & Crusty on Broadway btw. 104th & 105th closed suddenly.

MUW reader Harriet, who sent in the original tip, e-mailed this follow-up the other day:

I spoke to one of the long-time employees, whom I saw on the street as they were cleaning out the store. (They removed every last crumb, too, in about a day–it’s completely empty now.) Apparently the landlord tripled the rent, so the owner decided to close immediately.

If you missed the earlier post, the MTA is doing FASTRACK maintenance again this week. There are station closures and service changes on the A/C (and E) lines from 10:00 pm – 5:00 am every night this week until Friday morning.
