Apologies for the lack of posts today — I’ve been in transit for most of the day.
I’m actually posting this from a plane somewhere above Denver.
With that in mind, a few opening/closing notes:
Top-tipster Kevin A. sent in the photo above — apparently Turkish restaurant Savann (414 Amsterdam, between 79th & 80th) has closed.
Not sure what the story is here — it was just a few months ago that I linked to a pretty positive review of Savann. The restaurant also garnered a solid 4 stars on Yelp (albeit with a slightly limited number of reviews).
Strikes me as surprising.
UPDATE 4/10/13: Pinkberry moving into former Savann space
MUW reader Nina sends in two tips — one closing, one opening:
The Vitamin Shoppe at 2261 Broadway (at 81st) is closing (possibly closed at this point). That’s a nice corner retail spot — will be interesting to see what moves in.
UPDATE 1/30/13: Teavana moving into former Vitamin Shoppe space
In opening news, Nina also reports that ivivva athletica, the kid/youth arm of Lululemon, is opening a store/showroom at 215 W. 83rd (between Amsterdam & Broadway). This space was previously home to Bruce Frank Beads.
The tagline for ivivva’s website is “dancewear and activewear for girls.” Nina writes they cater to girls 4-14 years old.
This may be their first store in the US — all their other locations appear to be located in Canada.
Reports are they’re opening tomorrow (Thursday, 8/2), although it might just be a soft-opening.
