UWS Openings and Closings

Much buzz has been building over the past few months that convenience store 7-Eleven will expand their presence greatly in New York City. Now it’s official… 7-Eleven’s representatives announced that they plan to open 100 stores in the next five years in Manhattan. One such upcoming location is preparing for an opening at 93rd and Amsterdam, giving Upper West Siders another option when looking for Fun Dips or sugary frozen drinks (like the legendary Slurpee). Thanks to My Upper West reader Tiffany for the tip.
In store closing news, hair salon Curl Up & Dye (Broadway between 77th and 78th) has shut down, according to one of its former stylists. At least two of the stylists are now at Geoff Merritt Hair Salon (79th between Broadway and Amsterdam), so if you were a client, give them a call to see if your stylist has moved.
