The new Lululemon slated for the corner of Broadway & 75th has been in the works February.

Branded plywood went up in late May, and now there’s word the store is just a few weeks from opening.

MUW reader Rachel reports the rumored opening date is August 10th. From Rachel:

I heard the Lululemon news at Physique 57 this morning.  It was the chatter in class.  I know at least one of the P57 teachers is also a co-employee at Lulu, so that may be where the rumor got started.

I spoke with someone at Lululemon’s existing UWS location who told me the new store should open the “second or third week in August.”

As I often write, these opening dates are really moving targets. That said, 8/10 certainly falls into the timeline given to me over the phone, so that may indeed be the date.

Speaking of moving targets…

Wrote last week that the new Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW) at Broadway & 79th was finally slated to open this past Saturday, after weeks of varying dates.

Looks like things went off without a hitch — there’s already a positive review up from a Yelp Elite.

From a recent press release:

At over 26,000 square feet, the 79th & Broadway store boasts three floors of selling space, housing over 36,000 pairs of men’s and women’s shoes as well as accessories. One entire floor will be totally dedicated to men’s footwear.

Posted last week that Chinese restaurant The Cottage had mysteriously closed for “repairs.”

It appears as though they’ve since reopened. MUW reader Jason, a regular who had initially sent in word of the closing, e-mailed this follow-up last night:

My wife called them and they are apparently back in action and open. No word on the “renovation” that occurred.

Nice to hear, as The Cottage has been a fixture in the neighborhood for nearly 20 years.

In closing news — or, finally closing news — the UWS Betsey Johnson officially concluded their liquidation sale yesterday after two months of discounts. MUW reader @Bodhichitta sent in the photo below.

Finally, if you missed the earlier post, the MTA is doing FASTRACK maintenance again this week. There are station closures and service changes on the B/D (and F/M) lines from 10:00 pm – 5:00 am every night this week until Friday morning.
