UWS Photo: Lots Sandy Relief Donations At Firehouse Tavern + Other UWS Sandy Relief Notes

Sunday, November 4th, 2012

Posted yesterday about UWS Firehouse Tavern serving as a collection point for donations for Sandy Relief efforts (522 Columbus, between 85th & 86th).

@kittykatmc snapped this photo of the action outside Firehouse earlier today.

I was told yesterday they’d be collecting through 5:00 pm today, but I just got off the phone with someone at Firehouse who said they’re actually wrapping around 3:00 pm.

If you don’t have time to head over there before then, JCC In Manhattan (334 Amsterdam, at 76th) is collecting goods until 10:00 pm Sunday, and from 5:30 am – 10:00 pm on Monday (they’re also looking for volunteers).

MUW reader @Bodhichitta also reports that Yoga Works (37 W. 65th, between Columbus/CPW) and Film Society Of Lincoln Center (144 W. 65th, between Broadway & Amsterdam) are accepting donations.

From FilmLinc’s blog:

Within just one day of the impact of Hurricane Sandy, staffers at the Film Society mobilized to re-open Film Society venues. Members of our theater team endured a nearly three-hour commute to get to Lincoln Center to open our venues each morning even as other administrative staffers remained stranded in Brooklyn and Queens. Some have suffered catastrophic damage to their homes and are living in communities with many needs.

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the Film Society of Lincoln Center is currently collecting much needed supplies for the relief efforts in Far Rockaway. We will be personally delivering donations to those in need in the coming days.

A donation box is available now in the lobby at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center at Lincoln Center (144 W. 65th St. between Broadway and Amsterdam).

At this time we are asking for ONLY the following donations:

Bottled Water
Candles & Matches/Lighters
Canned Goods
Diapers (Children & Adults)/Wipes/Powder
Dog & Cat Food
Dried Fruits & Non-Perishables
Hand Sanitizer
Paper Towels
Sanitary Napkins
