MUW reader Jon snapped this shot of a manhole fire at Amsterdam & 87th earlier this morning.

It’s the second such incident this week.

On Monday, a string of manhole explosions rocked West 114th Street, from Riverside Drive all the way to Broadway.

No information on what may have caused this morning’s fire, but these things are usually related to blown transformers or other electrical foul ups.

West 76th Street experienced a manhole fire earlier this summer. The same block dealt with similar incidents last July and then again in May.
