Walk down almost any block on the Upper West Side and you’re bound to see signs taped to various light poles and street signs.

They’re often for lost personal items, such as engagement rings (here & here) and eyeglasses, although they occasionally include references to neighborhood bullies and missing unicorns.

You can now add v-neck cardigans with “sentimental value” to the list. Yes — someone is actually offering a reward for a sweater.

My first thought was that perhaps this is the guy who posted the sign, but then I remembered he doesn’t wear v-necks.

I called the number listed and got the voicemail of someone named “Mary” — if you’re reading this, please drop me a line and let me know the story behind this sweater.
