UWS Photo Of The Day: Taxi vs. Traffic Light Pole (Four People Injured) + Taxi Crash Gallery

Scary scene in front of the AMC Loews movie theater at 1998 Broadway (btw. 67th/68th) on Tuesday afternoon, where a taxi apparently jumped the curb injured four people.
MUW reader Stephanie happened to be at the scene and captured this photo. Per Stephanie:
Lots of action on 68 and Broadway just now – 2:50. Woman put on stretcher. Not sure if she was walking on the street or in the cab but the cab took out the light pole and a trashcan.
DNAinfo posted an article with some additional details (and not nearly as good a photo — thanks Stephanie!). Per DNA:
“I heard the screech of brakes and a bang, then a scream,” said Dirk Vandenheuvel, 77, an Upper West Sider who witnessed the aftermath. “Then everyone came running over.”
The details: one person taken to the hospital with minor injuries, three others at the scene with minor injuries, two of whom refused treatment. It’s unclear whether those injured were pedestrians or passengers, or if the injured included the driver.
We can add this to the ever-growing list of recent taxi crashes on the Upper West Side:
