In UWS restaurant opening news, a new burger joint is slated to open late this year at Broadway and 91st. Big Daddy’s Restaurant, a 50’s-style diner serving up greasy yet tasty burgers, fries, shakes, and dinner fare with locations in Gramercy Park and the Upper East Side, announces a late 2009 opening of the Upper West Side location on their website. We can look forward to their nostalgic restaurant (with features like a half-price happy hour and a Friday and Saturday schedule of 24 hours) coming soon. Thank you to My Upper West reader Yasmin for the info.
Also opening soon, and confirming our guesses made from the Community Board 7’s Business and Consumer Issues Committee meeting, a new tapas bar and restaurant called Taberna will open soon in the space that used to house Luzias Portugese restaurant at Amsterdam and 80th. The official sign is up, according to an Eater reader. Eater also reports that an additional location for restaurant Accademia di Vino in the former location of Dock’s Oyster Bar, on Broadway between 89th and 90th. Sounds like we Upper West Siders will have some nice new food options come winter.
