Village Voice restaurant critic Robert Sietsema recently stopped by Osteria Cotta (513 Columbus, between 84th & 85th) and came with pretty much only positive things to say.

“Recently, we’ve seen the Italian bistro perfected, and the Upper West Side’s Osteria Cotta represents a milestone in the process. It’s a type of restaurant you’d never see in Italy: There’s something on the menu for everyone, from almost every region of the country.”

You can read the full review here. The only misstep seems to be a pizza “sporting mushrooms and white truffle oil. It smells like a solvent you’d use to clean a car’s engine.”

Yelp people seem to agree, with mostly 4- and 5-star reviews.

I haven’t been, but I’ve walked past a bunch of times and it certainly looks inviting. Definitely on my ever-expanding list of places to try (it’s been open since March).
