As most of us prepare to spend the day with family and gorge on turkey and pie, I wanted share this story about Scott and Whitney, a young homeless couple that “lives” on the Upper West Side.

I came across it a few weeks ago, but decided to hold off on posting until today. At the risk of getting preachy, this is a stark reminder that most of us do have quite a bit to be thankful for.

I encourage everyone to take a few moments to click through — it’s a relatively short intro followed by a photo essay. The pictures are part of the story and each one includes additional writing, so definitely don’t skip them.

It’s a pretty powerful story — Scott and Whitney aren’t what you would expect when thinking about the homeless in New York City.

There was a brief follow-up post the next day — Scott & Whitney actually responded to people’s comments on the essay by using computers at the Apple Store.
