UWS Townhouse Listed For $21.5 Million Finally Sells Two Years Later For “Only” $11.5 Million

Friday, August 24th, 2012

The townhouse at 103 Riverside Drive (between 82nd & 83rd) was featured as an “Unattainable Apartment Of The Week” when it hit the market with an asking price of $21.5 million in June 2010.

More than two years later and $10 million in price chops later, it finally found a buyer.

Curbed as the details on this property that experienced price chops to $19.75 million, $16.5 million, $14.75 million, $12.5 million, and $12.1 million, before finally selling at $11.5 million earlier this month.

The owners went through “several broker switches” before finding one who appears to have priced it properly.

I’ve posted a few photos below — additional pic and a floorplan are available at Curbed.

Here’s the description of the property from back in 2010:

The Clarence True townhouse is located at 103 Riverside Drive, between 82nd and 83rd, on a row of five townhouses that overlook the park.  Built in True’s signature low-stoop Elizabethan Renaissance style, the townhouse’s interiors reference the tastes of the 19th century and the fine arts of the Renaissance and the Classical periods.  From a formal parlour and dining room that recreate the past while incorporating modern touches to a wood-paneled elevator for easy accessibility to all six floors to a chef’s kitchen containing everything you could desire, the main rooms have it all.  Other touches include built-in speakers providing music on every floor, a hidden terrace overlooking Riverside Park, and a home theater screen.  The home’s listing even goes on to mention that it was built “to accommodate not only your family but also your personal staff,” with an independent one-bedroom apartment under the eaves perfect for a live-in nanny or maid, a convenient service entrance camouflaged by attractive wrought ironwork, and plenty of workspace for an assistant, publicist, and other staff, all part of the more-than 7,500 square feet of usable space.
