UWS Woman Launching Frozen Yogurt Cart For Dogs

Posted last week about Rachael Ray’s food truck for dogs that was hitting the UWS — that was mostly a marketing effort to promote her new line of dog food, rather than a full-time endeavor.
However, one UWS woman thinks there’s a market for a food cart catering to canines and is in the process of launching the Yappy Treats Cart — a frozen yogurt cart for dogs.
DNAinfo recently profiled Upper West Sider and company founder, Laura Diaz. Per DNA:
Yappy Treats Cart’s frozen yogurt is hand-crafted in small batches using organic ingredients that are all human-grade and blended with yogurt, which is good for the digestive tract, Diaz said. There’s no added sugar, salt, fat or preservatives.
Flavors currently being developed include peanut butter-banana-carob, tuna-carrot, and chicken-plantain.
Ms. Diaz has a background in the food services industry — before moving to NYC from Chicago, she owned a catering company.
Yappy Treats Cart is still in “development mode,” but hopes to operational by January 2013, “heading to dog runs, sidewalks and dog parties.”
The company’s website can be found at yappytreatscart.com, although there’s only limited information there at the moment.
While we’re on the topic of dogs… If you missed the post yesterday, FLORAL (Friends & Lovers Of Riverside Area Life) is holding their 18th Annual Doggie Halloween Party + Costume Contest this Saturday in Riverside Park.
