Through Wednesday: Classic Charlie Chaplin Films
Come to the Walter Reade Theater (65th between Broadway and Amsterdam, upper level) to catch one of two classic Charlie Chaplin films. The Film Society of Lincoln Center presents City Lights and Modern Times. The 1931 film City Lights follows a tramp who falls in love with a beautiful blind girl, and Chaplin’s classic pantomime comedy style helps make the film rumored to be Orson Welles’ all-time favorite movie. Modern Times, Chaplin’s final silent film, was released a few years later in 1936 and is considered a “breathless satire on the industrial age and the omniscient forces directing American progress.” Purchase a single screening ticket for $7-$11, or get a great deal by purchasing a two-film package for only $9-$15.
