GMA Summer Concert Series: Miley Cyrus

Come to SummerStage for this week’s edition of the Good Morning America Summer Concert Series featuring Miley Cyrus.  It is encouraged to get to the free show at 6:00 am to guarantee entry.  Enter the park at the 72nd Street entrance at Fifth Avenue.

Central Park Bagel Bark
Saturday, June 19th, 2010, 7:30 am – 9:00 am, FREE
Central Park’s Wollman Rink, mid-park near 62nd

The Bagel Bark travels each month to a different dog friendly area of Central Park to welcome dog owners and their pooches to enjoy coffee, pastries, and bagels (of course), all courtesy of Central Park Conservancy’s Central Park PAWS. Come meet this vibrant neighborhood dog community.

NYC Pride Rally at SummerStage

Strength, virtuosity and joyous revelry reflect the diversity of the LGBT community and the lineup of this incredible evening’s entertainment.  Celebrate Pride Week with the first-ever SummerStage rally featuring Me’Shell Ndegeocello, Martha Wash, The New York Gay Men’s Chorus, Vickie Shaw, Billie Myers, Bruce Vilanch, and more.  Rumsey Playfield is mid-park near 70th.

GlobeSonic Sound System Dance Party

RCTA Sunset Concerts: Musica Bella Orchestra of New York

Tennis Lawn in Riverside Park, at 97th

Calling all blankets, picnic baskets, and candles! The Riverside Clay Tennis Association is once again hosting its series of sunset concerts on the tennis lawn.  This week’s performance is by The Bella Musica Orchestra of New York, an amateur orchestra composed of high-level amateur and semi-professional musicians.

NYRR’s Annual Father’s Day Race Against Prostate Cancer
Sunday, June 20th, 2010, 8:30 am, $15-$40
Starts and ends on Central Park’s West Drive near 68th

Join New York Road Runners for a 5 mile race against Prostate Cancer, presented by ABC7.  The main race follows the jogger’s path in Central Park, and a kids’ race takes place near the finish line festivities at 10:15 am.

Columbus Avenue Street Fair

Head to Columbus for the West Side Crime Prevention/Mitchell Lama Street Festival.  Enjoy street food while you shop on a nice summer day.

Fete De La Musique/Make Music NY Celebration

Rumsey Playfield (SummerStage), Central Park

Now in its fourth year, Make Music New York is a festival of free concerts throughout the five boroughs of New York City.  Iconic innovators from Mali and Haiti (including Salif Keita, Tabou Combo, and Lo’Jo) set the standards for global celebratory music, and are joined by the next generation of international visionaries.  Rumsey Playfield is mid-park near 70th.

Learn to dance like a pro at these salsa, cha-cha and bachata lessons and group dances led by master teachers from the Piel Canela Dance and Music School.
