This Week’s Events at the JCC

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

jccThe Jewish Community Center (Amsterdam at 76th) has some great events scheduled this week for a variety of age groups and interests.  First, ReelAbilities, New York’s disabilities film festival, begins today and runs through Monday at locations throughout the City.  The festival, put on by the JCC and focusing on award-winning films that tell stories of people with different abilities, features several great films at the JCC, including tonight’s opening night event, Mary and Max, and Monday’s closing night event, Coming Down the Mountain.  Get the festival’s information and a full schedule of events here.  Also happening this week is a great cocktail and tapas party for baby boomers.  The party will take place on Saturday night with chef Irene, fellow baby boomers, and cocktails, all while you learn how to make fantastic Latin tapas dishes like charred salmon with spicy tomatillo salsa and roasted eggplant with raisins and pine nuts.  Finally, if you’re looking for a good family event, come to the JCC on Sunday for the Louie Miranda Family Concert.  Louie Miranda and his band will heat up the winter with this highly interactive family concert… the Latin music will have kids and adults alike “bailando y cantando, dancing and singing in the aisles!”
