The New York Times‘ Diner’s Journal is reporting that Bill Telepan, chef and owner of Telepan (69th between Columbus and CPW), is looking into opening a wine bar near his upscale restaurant. According to the article, Telepan and his business partners are considering the space that used to house Elite Cafe & Restaurant (Columbus between 68th and 69th), which closed as a result of nonpayment of taxes. Plans aren’t solidified, but if they go through, we can expect an opening by the end of the year. We would welcome the addition of a nice wine bar in the neighborhood (especially over another chain), and we certainly wouldn’t complain if they offered some of Telepan’s delicious appetizer tastes and desserts along with a wine list!
