Wine Events this Week on the UWS

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

winesAre you a wine lover?  Here are a few of the fun wine events on the Upper West Side this week.  First, Bar Boulud (Broadway between 63rd and 64th) offers a nice wine and food evening this Tuesday with the Wiengut Knipser German Wine Dinner.  Wiengut Knipser is a family-run domaine dating back to 1874 that was recently named Germany Wine of the Year by Gault Millau, and on Tuesday, a rep from the winery will share tastings of their Pinot Noirs and Rieslings paired with delicious Bar Boulud food.  Another UWS wine event takes place at Bacchus (Broadway between 70th and 71st) on Tuesday.  Come to “California Dreaming,” a California wine tasting tour.  For $39, taste through a diversified selection of varietals and appellations from Napa to Santa Barbara, and leave with printed tasting notes and your own crystal glassware.  Finally, each Thursday through the 18th, Whole Foods Columbus Square’s wine store (Columbus near 97th) is holding a wine tasting and amuse bouche pairing fundraiser.  Delicious wines and local food pairings will be offered, while donations will go to the Whole Planet Foundation, which provides microcredit loans not only to Guatemala, Honduras, and soon to be Haiti, but also right here in NYC.  Just a handful of the ways to enjoy some vino on the UWS!
